In order to achieve optimal performance, it is essential to build a strong foundation of speed by focusing on both mechanics and technique. This foundational work will help ensure that athletes are equipped with the necessary skills to propel themselves efficiently.
Once this base is established, the next step is to build the engine of athleticism through the principle of progressive overload, which gradually increases the demands placed on the body to facilitate growth and improvement.
It is important to time the peak of training for May, just before athletes return for summer workouts, camps, or the combine season. This strategic timing allows athletes to be in prime condition, maximizing their potential as they transition into the competitive phase of their training.
